Follow-Up Strategy for Building Strong Partnerships

In last week's poll, 33% of you said you are unsure of how often to follow up here's my advice.

Wondering about follow-up frequency? Here's a simple guide: reach out 3-5 days after your first message, then weekly for two weeks, limiting yourself to 3-4 polite follow-ups.

Don't let fear of bothering others hold you back. Most people are just busy, and non-responses rarely reflect on you. Instead of seeing follow-ups as intrusive, view them as building genuine connections and offering value. The right partner will appreciate your dedication.

Here’s a mindset shift that can help: view follow-ups as a way to build genuine connections and provide value, rather than as a nuisance.

Instead of thinking of it as “bothering,” frame each message as a reminder of the value your organization brings. You’re offering an opportunity for mutual impact—something worth following up on.

Try this: Subject Line: Quick Follow-Up on Our Partnership Opportunity "Hi [Name], just checking in about our discussion regarding [mission]. I'd love to explore how we could collaborate to impact [cause area]. Happy to provide more details. Looking forward to your thoughts!"
